A little bit about me: I'm in my 20's, and I graduated with a chemical engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh. But I've been hooked on Organic Chemistry ever since I took it my senior year of high school. During my time at university/college, through helping friends, being a teaching assistant, and tutoring students I realized something: I firmly believe any person can conquer Organic Chemistry. That's why I made this site--everyone deserves to have Organic Chemistry made easy, for free.
Organic Chemistry is a challenging class, no doubt. But I'm here to tell you--and help you see--that it's not all that scary. I know it is all too easy to get lost in a sea of technical, fancy-shmancy organic words and phrases. However, when the concepts and ideas are explained in plain language, Organic Chemistry is accessible I promise. My favorite feeling in the world is seeing a someone's face when that light bulb goes off and Organic Chemistry makes sense, and that's why I made this website. If you work with me, I swear I'll do my best to help you thrive in the world of Organic Chemistry.
We'll need to work hard to show Organic Chemistry who's boss. But just because we're going to work our asses doesn't mean we can't have fun doing it. My goal is to make the videos fun and entertaining, because to keep our sanity on this carbon-based journey, we can't take ourselves too seriously. Sometimes the jokes will be corny and bad, so I'm going to apologize in advance. But anyways, let's get started! I'll be here with you all every organic step of the way.
But before you start your carbon conquest, if you're still curious about how jOeCHEM came to be, check out the video below. I had the great privilege to tell a group of Pitt chemistry students the whole story. And make sure to follow jOeCHEM across social media + subscribe on YouTube.
